Business Ops Coordinator
Job Description
Reporting to the Business Manager, the Business Operations Coordinator will perform a wide variety of fiscal activities to assist the SVPCBO Office and various departments that report to the Senior Vice President and Chief Business Officer. Primary responsibilities include preparing day-to-day administrative and human resource transactions to ensure compliance with university, state, and foundation policies and procedures. This position will also prepare and analyze reports and interact with departments across the university. The Business Operations Coordinator will exercise initiative and independent judgement while using discretion with information.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or equivalent level of training and/or experience.
Demonstrated experience in a financial role. High degree of organization with attention to detail and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including spreadsheets, word processing, databases, calendaring, electronic filing back up. Demonstrated exposure to and experience working with highly confidential information. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with others. Ability to handle multiple tasks and the flexibility to adapt when situations require shifting priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in higher education budgeting, finance, or accounting operations. Knowledge of university, state, and foundation fiscal practices, policies, and systems (Banner, HokieMart, Chrome River). Demonstrated ability to analyze data and prepare reports. Specific knowledge of unit programs, activities and reporting structures.
